Denpasar Bali Airport Review
The Denpasar Bali Airport isn’t what you expect it to be! This is my 1st Airport review and is for a good reason. For a “poor” Country the Balinese airport is something else. I had the pleasure of spending 6 hours in this airport and I don’t say this sarcastically.
At the Time of writing is the nicest airport I have been too.
When arriving in Bali Airport
I had extremely low expectations, due to the guy sitting next to me on the plane was explaining how it can take nearly 2 hours for them to check your passport and your forms that you receive on the plane. But this wasn’t the case at all, straight through within 30 minutes. But saying this the arrivals was nothing special. So I’m going to move on to the departing side of the airport and mainly focusing on the international side of the airport.
Before checking in
You will find and range of different cafes and food places, ranging from Asian cuisine to a bar to coffee shop. As we were there 6 hours before departing ( 3 hours to kill before heading to check in ) we actually tried out two of the places available here.
The Coffee club was just like the ones we remembered in Australia. The same great food and drinks ( same prices too)
Really enjoyed the service too, I would recommend going to this cafe if you have to spend any time at the airport. It is surprising that they tried hard to give you a good service even though repeat business must be really hard!
We headed to the bar a couple of hours later after the Coffee club, I wanted to try out the food and the drinks for “research” purposes too. So I tried out the Bintang Radler and the chicken lollipops, They were both very good!
We flew with Qatar Airlines and Checking in was so simple and fast, around 6-10 was checking people in which made the whole process extremely fast. We had our bags checked in within 20 minutes. (In comparison to Perth to Bali where there were around 2-3 people)
We moved quickly through security too, no queue and state of the art checking body checking systems that give you that extra piece of mind.
This is when I was amazed! After visiting quite a few airports before this, I really judge them on the shops and the things to do when your bored in an airport.
Here is a list of shops and Food Places:
- WH Smiths
- Hard rock Cafe and rock shop
- Duty-Free shops for Alcohols and Cigarettes
- Raph Lauren
- Michael Kors
- Cafes and Noodle bars
- Even A spa
- Lots more
The departure lounge is very well designed full of designer brands and shops where you can spend a lot of money!
But they keep it well, with clean Toilets. It’s not just a way of getting the last of the money from the tourists before they leave. They really try and make a good experience for all travelers.
And Electric plugs at the gates
I wouldn’t be worried about going out of your way to visit this airport but If you’re on the way to this airport then don’t panic about eating and grabbing last minute airplane stuff. Plenty of places to eat and shop!
It much better than I thought! 4 out of 5 for an airport! which isn’t bad.
